About RGIP

Hinjawadi was completely a rural locale until the construction of the Rajiv Gandhi Infotech Park (RGIP) in mid 1990s. Since its advent, thishas been the biggest and fastest developing IT Hub of Pune. RGIP lies about 20 kms towardsthe West of Pune and is a 25-minute to an hour’s drive from the city. RGIP houses many big and small IT/ITES companies and few non-IT companies employing more than 3,00,000 employees.
The IT Park currently comprises three phases with future expansions planned in a total of about 700 hectors of MIDC area.

RGIP has over 150 industries and despite the name indicating an IT Park, there are manufacturing, pharmaceutical, R&D hubs and other non-IT companies located within RGIP. To enable a better work life balance for the employees, MIDC also has numerous plots earmarked for residential societies, educational centres, bus depots, shopping centres, post offices and other administrative infrastructure necessary to run a mini-township. Many of these are fully ready and functioning, and few are under construction.

RGIP lies in the midst of Hinjawadi, Maan and Marunji villages and infrastructure like residential societies and shopping centres have mushroomed in these villages as well, making RGIP and its surroundings a bustling mini township.

With developments in these residential properties, colleges and schools in its area, RGIP hopes to provide its workforce a better work life balance ensuring productivity as well a quality family life in a safe and secure environment.

Real Estate Development :
Hinjawadi is a proposed hub for integrated townships in Pune. The new Special Township Policy Act of the Maharashtra government has laid down an integrated approach to the development of townships to de-congest Pune Municipal Corporation areas. To encourage new settlements in its periphery the Govt allocates higher FSI (floor space index) in these regions than what is normally allowed in the municipal limits.

Pune Metropolitan Region Development Authority (PMRDA) has envisaged a Metro route between Hinjawadi and Shivajinagar. This line will travel through MIDC, PCMC and PMC areas along the route RGIP – Baner – Aundh- University Road – Shivajinagar and provide a seamless transport solution to people commuting to RGIP on a daily basis.

Security :
RGIP, Hinjawadi comes under the Pimpri Chinchwad Police Commissionerate (PCPC). It has a Police Station headed by a Senior Police Inspector and a Traffic Police Station headed by a PI (Traffic) at Wakad, which is about 3 kms away. A police outpost has been planned at RGIP Phase 3 however the same has not yet been deployed.

In the pipeline since long is the project to install Closed Circuit Television Cameras (CCTV) within RGIP. This project aims to provide176 surveillance cameras at 27 locations to cover all junctions, exit and entry points in the IT Parkfor monitoring all activities in the area. This network of CCTV is sought to be integrated with the CCTV camera network of PCMC. The output will be monitored and recorded by a centralized unit at the PCPC.

Education :
Colleges.
One of RGIP’s specialty is that it promotes a campus recruitment policy to feed the companies located in it. Hence there are a large number of colleges in the area, prominent among them being International Institute of Information Technology, Symbiosis International University, Alard Campus, IIMS college and Indira College

Schools:
To maintain a work life balance, RGIP also promotes setting up schools to ensure that the workforce has many options for their children’s education, Amongstmany others, a few schools of repute at RGIP areMahindra International School, Blue Ridge Public School, Pawar Public School and Vibgyor High School.

All in all, RGIP is becoming the favoured destination for companies as well as employees in and around Pune. HIA endeavours to make it a better place to work and live in.
